The week before Thanksgiving Gustavo, his wife Celia, Staci, friend Scott, Katie Belle and I traveled to Jewett and Palestine Texas for sculpture take down. Nine sculptures to be exact. We loaded Staci's car and Gustavo's truck with snacks. Should have put something anything healthy in Gustavo's trailer. However, I think pork skins are a vegetables of some sort.
Since Katie Belle came into our life July 1st, we never heard her bark. In Palestine, I walked her over to a big horse sculpture and she barked. Hey, she does have vocal cords! At least for horse sculptures. When we were taking down sculptures at the State Fair of Texas no sculpture merited barking. The food scraps left over in the ground had all her attention. Disgusting, but it's a puppy dog "thang".
We didn't submit sculptures to either city this year. It was a tough year. But taking down with friends and Katie Belle made for a great day. And yes, the sun always shines on Katie Belle.
By the way, I've started writing a blog on www.minickassociates.com. Check it out.
